about mackinac island
Tucked away in Northern Michigan’s Straits of Mackinac, this beloved island spans just four square miles—but don’t let its small size fool you! Steeped in history, Mackinac Island is home to Fort Mackinac, a garrison established during the American Revolution, and its timeless charm has even graced the silver screen in the classic film Somewhere in Time. From its storied past to its enchanting present, Mackinac Island offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historic allure that we can’t wait for you to experience.

about the inn at stonecliffe
Originally built in 1904 as the grand summer residence of a Chicago meat-packing baron, our wedding venue, The Inn at Stonecliffe has gracefully evolved over the decades while preserving its rich historical legacy. Perched atop Mackinac Island’s West Bluff, the 15-acre estate offers sweeping views of the Straits of Mackinac, meticulously landscaped gardens, a rejuvenated apple orchard, and beehives that support local biodiversity.
weather
Late August on Mackinac Island typically brings warm days and cooler nights (with temperatures ranging from the 60s to 70s°F). A light jacket or wrap is recommended for evenings. It is Northern Michigan afterall and the weather can change in a quick minute! We suggest packing rain protection.
getting around
The island is famously car-free, so visitors enjoy walking, biking, or riding in horse-drawn carriages. Be sure to pack comfortable shoes to explore its scenic streets.
